Whether you’re dealing with a housing issue, curious about organizing, or just learning what a tenants union is, you’re not alone. This section answers some of the most common questions we hear from tenants across Easthampton.

Do I have to be facing eviction or a serious problem to contact you?

No. Many tenants reach out just to learn their rights, get organized, or prevent problems before they become crises.
You do not need to be in immediate trouble to get involved.

Is it legal to form a tenants union in Massachusetts?

Yes. Tenants in Massachusetts have the legal right to organize and work together without retaliation from their landlord.
State law protects collective tenant activity.

Will my landlord find out if I contact you?

We respect your privacy and do not contact landlords without your consent.
Any organizing or communication happens with your involvement and agreement.

How much does it cost to get help?

Our organizing support is free of charge.
We work with tenants to help you and your neighbors build your own union and advocate for yourselves, without fees or paywalls.

What happens after I reach out?

After you fill out the contact form, you’ll start getting the weekly email-
with that week’s meeting agenda, upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

If you indicate that you need help with your landlord, an organizer will follow up with you by email or phone.
We take our lead from you and work at your pace and in your best interest.
